My sister, Margot, is just 17 months older than me. We are both teachers and work at the same school. She is my best friend and makes me laugh all the time. I've always looked up to her and I appreciate all the clothes she left behind when she got married - they are now mine.
Sandy, my good friend, has a contagious positive spirit. We met while both working at Suthies and she has been one of the most loyal friends I have ever had. She has been living in the UK since the end of 2015 and is FINALLY returning to SA in July to be in time for my wedding.
Caitlin and I have known each other for 21 years! We met each other in preschool and we were best friends through our entire school year. Caitlin is going places people; and I'm very inspired by her determination to do so. I really appreciate all that she has put into my life.
Brian, my younger brother and best friend. Younger, yes, but very wise. I have always been able to go to him when I need advice or simply someone to talk to. We've always enjoyed our sports together even though it might get competitive at stages. I have NEVER been tempted to throw a cricket bat at him. :) NEVER!
Broer, I could not have asked for a better brother and it will be the biggest honour having you there next to me on this special day. Thanks for everything, I will always appreciate it.
Waide Schlebusch, my oldest and loyal friend of about 21 years now. That is a hectic long time. For years, whenever we get together, we get Mc Donalds or KFC - I know his order and he knows mine - make a "christmas bed" in front of the TV and play XBox all night while reciting our dream of getting rich and buying cars.
My boy, thanks for all the good times and for always being there for me. I will treasure each moment together forever.
The friendship between myself and Adrian, indirectly started on Argentina tour in 2010, but actually only officially started when Margot and Adrian FINALLY got together. I have always respected Adrian for his determination in his life and career endeavours. Our holiday adventures together usually consist of the 2 sisters lazing around and the 2 guys findding something more "interesting" to do - and by "interesting" I mean mischief...all kinds of mischief.
Adrian, thanks for all the good times. I'm really looking forward to many more kuiers and great memories being made.
My relationship with Zuko, started at Suthies when he showed me the ropes at my new school in 2008. We became so close that our friendship turned into brotherhood and he became a part of the family.
I remember the day when we joked about him moving in and how it then turned serious. "Why not?" we said, and the next moment, he was in our house: bags and all!
Zuko, you have always been the go-to person for life advice and it has alway been extremely valuble to me. From deep conversations about God, religion, relationships and just life to just hanging out together and experimenting with different spices when cooking; I will always treasure these moments and really appreciate the contribution that you have made to my life.
This is my family.
My younger brother, Brian Harrison, and I, stay together with my mother and father Elaine and Brian Harrison in Eldoraigne.
My parents have always been extremely supportive and loving to myself and my brother and always encouraged us to achieve the goals we had set for ourselves.
My parents have a farm in Robertson, where they plan to retire in a couple of years. Well, they say "retire" but we see it more as a termly holiday destination since Robyn and I are both teachers.
My brother and I are always active and find any excuse to play a sports game outside. This has always been when we've bonded the most and I really appreciate his support, his love and his friendship.
To my immediate family and much extended family: We've had lots of good times and you have always taught me the importance of family.
My family is just like me....little.
My mother, Glynis Basson, loves me a lot - except when I (quite often) don't bring her Tupperware home. Together, my mom, my sister, Margot Hossell, our cat and I, used to stay in a townhouse Wierda Park for a really long time. This was home and we made many great memories there. I know my cat (and my mom) is going to miss me a lot.
My dad, Leon Basson, is just as much a legend. He gives me lots of life advice and biltong when I occasionaly beg for it. It's REALLY good biltong - by the way - and he does private sales as well.
To my mom, dad, sister and brother-in-law, the Butlers and gran: Thank you for everything you have given me over the years. I look forward to lots more lovely memories.
This was a total surprise.
Eben took me to Lethabo Estate in Lanseria.
He said that he wanted to treat me to a massage day thing - who would refuse this offer?
When we arrived, I had to put my phone off and in the car's consol because he didn't want "distractions." What bothers me about this day is the fact that I didn't suspect A THING. Really?! And as far as I am concerned, I am very good at guessing surprises so I still don't see how I missed this.
Anyway, I went alone for a pedicure and was meeting him at a private lapa thing next to a river - he told me it was then going to be a "couples massage." I wasn't even up the second step and he was down on one knee. Ha wa! I was so shocked.
I'm sure you can all guess what I said...and he won't admit it...but he was crying too. What a little bit of magic. Our beautiful day ended off with a small celebration from our families at home. Next step - wedding plans!
July 2, 2016.
We met in high school. It was towards the end of Robyn's matric year and Eben's grade 11. All our friends were asking questions about the time we were spending together - technically Robyn asked him out - but he'll tell you he did. ;)
Both of us were not that serious in the beginning. We actually didn't think that the relationship would last very long ;)
Well, here we are. We've been dating for just over 6 and a half years now. We've been up mountains, down valleys, sailed through good times and paddled through more difficult rapids. But in all of this we've come to learn that there is no one else out there meant for either of us.
We've taught each other about real friendhsip, forgiveness, acceptance, loyalty and unconditional love (amongst many others).
Eben liked it so he "put a ring on it" - a really beautiful ring by the way. Robyn said "yes" and this is it.
We can't wait.
And this is me (Eben).
I was also born in the Cape and moved to Pretoria with my parents at a very young age.
I am a high school teacher at Sutherland High and I teach Technology and Engineering, Graphics and Design.
I am a big fan of most sports. Out of the many that I've played, Hockey is my favourite. I coach Hockey at school and love working with young people.
I have a very supportive family and great friends that have been with me for many years. I am so grateful to the Lord for all the blessings in my life - Robyn being the highlight :)
Thank you to everyone in my life for all of your love, support and irreplacable life-advice. I really appreciate it.
This is me (Robyn).
I was born in the Cape and moved to Pretoria at a very young age.
Ask my mom, I was VERY Afrikaans when I was super small. But now I am indeed very English. I am a high school teacher at Sutherland High School where I teach Physical Science and Mathematics.
My hobbies include long distance running and playing with my beautiful kitty-cat. (Which my mother mentioned I could take with me when I move out ;) )
I have beautiful friends and family in my life and a great place of worship where I can express how much I love the Lord.
He's been so good to me.
Thank you to everyone that has contributed - big or small - to all my incredible life memories. I love you lots!
